FULTON – January 13, 2024, Jeannette A. Billings, 87, of Fulton, NY, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 13, 2024, in Florida with her family by her side. She is survived by six children, several grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Jeannette was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, James; son, Robert and daughter, Betty.
Milferd Roy Darling
FULTON – March 28, 2024, Milferd Roy Darling, age 77, formerly of Hannibal New York, passed away March 28, 2024, in Ocala Florida. Milferd was born in Oswego NY to parents Nelson and Juanita Darling on January 9, 1947. He went to high school at Hannibal Central School and graduated in 1965. He earned an associate’s degree in Agronomy from the State University of New York at Delhi. He worked as an Ameriprise financial planner and Christmas Tree farmer at his Darling Christmas Tree Farm in Hannibal NY. He enjoyed farming, gardening, and was an avid motorcycle, snowmobile, and car enthusiast.
Rossiter Celebrates 25 Years With Oswego County
OSWEGO – The Oswego County Legislature’s Public Safety Committee recognized Sergeant Scott Rossiter for 25 years of service with the Oswego County Sheriff’s Department. The committee presented a certificate of appreciation to Rossiter at its July meeting. Linda Bareham, 81, of Oswego, passed away on July 11, 2024. Born in Oswego, she was the daughter of the late Nelson and Clara (Murray) Bullard. Linda worked as a Nurse’s Aide for Hillcrest/Loretto Nursing Home. She enjoyed arts and crafts, card games, bingo, puzzles, and collecting stuffed animals.

OSWEGO COUNTY – The Minetto United Methodist Church and the members of its Osteo Exercise Class will provide a free dinner on Wednesday, July 17, serving dine-in guests and take-outs in its dining room from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. or until the food is gone. Governor Hochul Announces More Than $484 Million In Bridge Ny Funding To Rehabilitate And Replace Local Bridges And Culverts
NEW YORK – Program Supports Efforts To Harden Critical Infrastructure and Make Local Communities More Resilient to Impacts of Climate Change. Governor Kathy Hochul today announced the award of more than $484 million in enhanced assistance for 137 local governments across the State to rehabilitate and replace bridges and culverts, enhancing safety and improving the resiliency and sustainability of New York’s vital transportation infrastructure. This funding, provided through the State’s BRIDGE NY initiative with significant support from the federal Bridge Formula Program, will support 216 individual projects, and will help local governments in every region of the State harden their existing infrastructure to better endure severe weather events and withstand the impacts of climate change. The State’s BRIDGE NY initiative supports projects that will reduce the risk of flooding and improve the resiliency of structures, while also facilitating regional economic competitiveness and prioritizing projects that benefit environmental justice communities.

Port Of Oswego Leases Grain Export Center To The DeLong Co., Inc.
The Port of Oswego Authority, POA), recently signed an agreement with The DeLong Co., Inc. of Clinton, WI, to lease the Port’s 750,000-bushel grain storage facility (above), to export grain to international markets, said William Scriber, POA executive director and CEO. “We are gratified to be partnering with The DeLong Co. on this agreement,” Scriber said. “Our $15 million Grain Export Center, which opened in 2022, is the largest facility of its kind on Lake Ontario and the most technologically advanced handling system in New York State and on the Great Lakes and has an on-site USDA lab— the only one of its kind among our sister Great Lakes ports.”
