OTERO COUNTY, Colo. (KKTV) - Highway 50 in Otero County is back open after eight down power poles forced a closure. According to our 11 Breaking Weather Team, the damage to the power poles was caused by a possible strong wind gust part of a thunderstorm, also known as a microburst. Officials from Black Hills Energy tell 11 News the down power poles also caused over 100 households to be without power, but the latest update they gave us was less than 30 households were without power.
