Spokane South Hill car wash destroyed in suspected arson case
SPOKANE, Wash. - The Spokane Fire Department and investigators responded to another fire they believe to be connected to a larger set of arson cases in Spokane. Squeaky's Car Wash, connected to the Conoco gas station on the 4500 block of South Regal Street, was destroyed in what investigators confirmed was arson.
Multiple severe heat records to be broken during oppressive weekend heat wave
SPOKANE, Wash. — It has been very hot more often than not this July. And now, this stretch of weather is breaking more records than just daily high temperatures. As of Friday, Spokane tied the record for most consecutive days at 90 degrees or above at 15 days in a row. That record will be shattered with 90s and 100s in the forecast through the first half of next week.
Judge turns down ex-Rep. George Santos’ request to nix some charges ahead of fraud trial
NEW YORK (AP) — Former U.S. Rep. George Santos has lost a bid to get rid of part of the criminal case against him as he heads toward trial on charges that include defrauding campaign donors. U.S. District Joanna Seybert turned down Santos’ request Friday. He was seeking the dismissal of charges of aggravated identity theft and theft of public money — in all, three of the 23 charges against him. The judge wrote that the indictment met the legal bar for the charges in question. Prosecutors and Santos’ lawyers declined to comment.
City of Spokane expanding cooling options again this weekend
SPOKANE, Wash. – The City of Spokane is expanding cooling options again this weekend. According to the city, Spokane Public Libraries and the Trent Resource and Assistance Center will both be open during the day. The Shadle Park library will remain open until 7 p.m. Saturday and the Liberty Park, Indian Trail and Central Libraries remain open to 7 p.m. Sunday.
