Two people who were found dead in a burned farmhouse in Otisfield have been identified.. The state fire marshal’s office was called to the two-story, 100-year-old house on Main Road (Route 121) at 11:23 p.m. Sunday, the office said in a news release.
Inside the burned house, investigators found the remains of two adults. Officials believed the victims were 77-year-old Jean Jalbert and 65-year-old Donna Jalbert, who lived at the house. Their remains were brought to the state Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta where autopsies will be conducted at a later date and DNA will be used to identify the remains. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, according to the fire marshal’s office.
