Holland Man Hurt After Motorcycle Crash Near Nunica
CROCKERY TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, July 26, 2024) – A 19-year-old Holland man was hospitalized after his motorcycle crashed near Nunica on Friday evening. According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Shane Ryke, the unnamed biker was westbound on Leonard Street, approaching 112th Avenue, shortly before 8 PM when he apparently failed to negotiate a curve and lost control of his machine. He sustained serious injuries and was taken to Trinity Health Muskegon for treatment. No other vehicles were involved.
Southwest Michigan city considers dissolving police force due to staffing issues
HARTFORD, MI – A small city in Southwest Michigan is considering dissolving its police force amid ongoing issues with staffing, leadership and turnover. The city of Hartford, which has roughly 2,500 residents in Van Buren County, is weighing “phasing out” its police department and instead contracting police services from the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department, City Manager Nicol Brown said in a press release Friday, July 26.
