5K On The Fairway Celebrates 10 Years With Anniversary 5k And Golf Outing
10 years ago, local runner, Mike McArthur, organized a 5k run in honor of his uncle who had passed away from pancreatic cancer. What began as a single fundraising event has grown into an official 501c3 organization that hosts several events per year and has raised over $70,000 for local charities. Adrian, MI – The Lenawee County Fair, Michigan’s longest running fair, continues today with many 4-H shows starting at 9 am. Highlights for the day include the Cardio Drumming Demo at the Bandshell at 1 pm; a pie baking contest at 3 pm, also at the bandshell. Activities this evening include Los Hermanos Villegas performing at the bandshell at 6pm and the Figure 8 Car and Truck Demo at the grandstand at 7 pm.
Meeting to address Maumee River fish, wildlife improvements near Towpath Park
Maumee-area residents are being asked to weigh in on $2 million to $5 million of fish and wildlife habitat improvements planned for the Maumee River near the city’s Towpath Park. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is hosting a public information session at 5:30 p.m. on July 30 about the work, called the Great Lakes Fisheries and Ecosystem Restoration Towpath Park project. The 90-minute meeting will be inside the Maumee High School Performing Arts Center, 1147 Saco St., Maumee. Three potential locations are under consideration. They include sites adjacent to existing walking paths west or east of the Conant Street Bridge, or a portion of the river further downstream, northeast of the Audubon Islands State Nature Preserve. A river-adjacent wetland complex, vernal pools, and softening streambank features to stabilize the bank and slow water velocity near the shoreline are being contemplated.

Two Bowling Green businesses reported counterfeit bills being used at their stores on Friday (July 19). Bowling Green Police responded to a business in the 800 block of South Main Street, at 7:23 p.m., after an employee reported a customer suspected of using counterfeit bills.
