STANDISH TWP., Mich. (WNEM) - Standish Township announced that it received a $3.3 million grant to complete a sanitary sewer project. WASHTENAW COUNTY, MI – Capitol One sued a Washtenaw County sheriff candidate for owing nearly $21,000, court records show. The credit card company filed a lawsuit against Alyshia Dyer, one of three Democrats appearing on the Aug. 6 primary ballot, in February. The debt was primarily daily living costs incurred while she was in graduate school, Dyer said, and she believes her the debt makes her more relatable to voters.
Sheriff candidate says licensing complaint, investigation ‘a made-up thing’
WASHTENAW COUNTY, MI – The state is investigating a Washtenaw County sheriff’s candidate for allegedly misrepresenting himself as a social worker. A complaint filed May 14 with the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs pointed to Derrick Jackson’s campaign material and social media as evidence he has been improperly saying he is a social worker, according to documents obtained by a Freedom of Information Act request. A representative from LARA said the department does not comment on ongoing investigations.
