IOWA — Another round of severe weather is expected to impact Central Iowa early in the new month. The first of the storms looks to arrive overnight with the strongest of the storms developing in southeast Iowa Tuesday evening.

A strong area of low pressure bringing in ample moisture will lead to storms across Nebraska and the Dakotas today. Those storms will move into northwest Iowa through midnight and cross into Central Iowa by early Tuesday morning. A few storms could produce strong winds and large hail. This could impact the morning commute.

Storms will be likely on and off during the day on Tuesday, but the next round of strong to severe storms will impact especially southeast Iowa Tuesday evening. After 5 PM, storms will pop up again in Central Iowa and quickly move into southeast Iowa towards places like Centerville and Ottumwa.

The storms that form Tuesday evening could produce damaging winds, large hail and isolated tornadoes.

Rainfall amounts will generally be between a half inch to up to 2″ through late Tuesday night. There may be some isolated higher amounts.

Wednesday will be nice, but we are not completely in the clear. More storms are possible on the 4th of July both in the morning and again in the evening.
