Fate of sales tax to be decided today
Polls open today for the special election to decide the fate of a sales tax to benefit Ouachita County Medical Center. The propsed tax would increase the sales tax in the county by one half cent and will go towards the Ouachita County Medical Center maintenance costs. The tax is intended to replace a previous tax which expired five years ago. The monies collected from this propsed tax will be used to pay for the maintenance of the physical property and building in which the hospital operates.
