State Basketball |Phillips advances, Williamsville to play for third
CHAMPAIGN - Williamsville's Carson Kohler goes up for a second-half shot between Phillips' Claude Mpouma (left) and Amari Edwards at the IHSA Boys' Basketball State Finals on Thursday. A despite an exciting fourth quarter rally, the Bullets fell 60-54 in the state semifinal. Kohler finished the game with 15 points, eight rebounds, and six assists. Williamsville advances to the third-place game later this evening against the winner of the contest between Byron and Benton.

CHAMPAIGN - Meridan's Anton Flenoid celebrates after his game-ending dunk against Hope Academy. The Bobcats defeated the Eagles in their Class 1A seminfinal game, 68-60. Flenoid led the team to Saturday's championship game with a game-high 24 points and 12 rebounds. Meridan will play for the 1A state title on Saturday at 11 am at the State Farm Center on the University of Illinois campus. More photos from this game coming soon.
Fighting Illini tennis suffers 4-1 loss at the hands of Ohio State

Oakwood - Senior Jaydah Arrowsmith, along with Salt Fork duo Alexa Jamison and Macie Russell, received first-team selection by Vermilion Valley Conference coaches this week. NORMAL - Members of the Loyola Academy girls' basketball team celebrate their title win Saturday night at the IHSA Girls' Basketball State Finals. The Class 4A state champions defeated Nazareth Academy 40-44 thanks to a pair of free throws from senior Paige Engles in the last 14 seconds of the game. It was the Ramblers' first championship trophy in the four-class system and the first since defeating East St. Louis Lincoln back in 1998. Wardle later made the game-winning jumper with less than two seconds to play to deliver the Irish's first state basketball title in an exciting 48-46 finish.
