Another case of wolf depredation has taken place in Colorado, but details remain slim.

According to a tracking sheet of depredation incidents provided by Colorado Parks and Wildlife, one cattle was involved in a wolf depredation incident on May 11 in Grand County. This means that the cattle was either injured or killed, though officials have not provided specifics on that detail.

This incident follows six depredation incidents involving a total of eight animals that took place in April, which were the first confirmed cases of depredation since formal wolf reintroduction took place in December of 2023.

Of those April cases, a claim was received in a single case, which took place in Jackson County and involved a calf that was killed. That claim was $1,514.

Our team has reached out to Colorado Parks and Wildlife for more detail related to the May 11 incident. Details may be added to this article if received.

Wolf depredation on livestock continues to be a pain point for Colorado's ranchers, who are restricted from using lethal source without special permission, with that special permission not yet granted.
