While mapping related to wolf movement around Colorado indicates that wolves have been present in watersheds that reach south of I-70, Colorado Parks and Wildlife has clarified that wolves have not been known to cross this major highway. These watershed areas are large and get included on the 'wolf tracking' map if a wolf is detected anywhere in that watershed, with specifications not made regarding specifically where in the watershed that wolf was detected.

This update means that wolves have not crossed I-70 to move closer to Breckenridge, Frisco, and Dillon, despite watersheds where wolves have been present reaching into that area of Summit County. That being said, wolves have been detected in a watershed that includes the area around Vail, the area around Steamboat Springs, and the area around Winter Park.

Tracking information is currently based on data from eight wolf collars, with two collars that were previously active no longer sending signals. It's also worth noting that it's believed some wolves are in Colorado without tracking collars. This may mean that wolf location data is incomplete, not encompassing all areas where wolves have been during the period included in the most recent update, which accounts for wolf travel from April 23 to May 21.
