A scary situation prompted an FBI response at a Summit County resort over recent days.

According to the Summit County Sheriff's Office, the FBI received a report from social media company Snapchat that a picture was allegedly posted by a male in the Copper Mountain area. The post reportedly included an image of a hand holding a long gun pointed toward ski runs near the base area along with what was described as a "vague threat."

A swift initial investigation by the FBI revealed that there was no immediate public threat, with the weapon ultimately identified as a BB gun.

The male who allegedly posted the image was then "extensively" interviewed, claiming that the post was a "joke."

The BB gun was seized as evidence and the suspect was issued a summons for Disorderly Conduct.

Thanks goes out to local law enforcement and the FBI for promptly investigating the situation and keeping the community safe.
