The National Weather Service (NWS) in Boulder has issued a warning for a risk of flash flooding in and near burn areas, also noting risks of locally heavy rain in the eastern plains.

Flash flooding could occur from 1-6 p.m. in and near the mountains, and 3-9 p.m. east of I-25. According to an X post from the NWS in Boulder, there will be an elevated risk of flash flooding and/or flooding on streams and rivers near Cameron Peak and Alexander Mountain burn areas on Monday, and limited risk near East Troublesome and Williams Fork.

When heavy storms are nearby, you should avoid ditches, ravines, and low lying areas. Also move to higher ground if necessary and never drive through flood waters.

Looking ahead, there is a marginal risk of excessive rainfall across most of Colorado according to mapping from the NWS .
