Historic Colorado resort dubbed one of best 'destination resorts' in country

Destination resorts "lavish guests with plush accommodations, top-notch dining, and a host of activities," making your stay feel like a vacation.

USA Today recently published a list of the ten best destination resorts in the country, and one iconic Colorado hotel was included.

USA Today's 10Best is a reader's choice awards program highlighting the country's best in destinations, food and drink, hotels, and things to do. An expert panel nominates their top choices in each category, and readers vote to determine the winners.

After the votes were cast, The Broadmoor ended up snagging sixth place. Located in Colorado Springs, the luxurious resort first opened its doors in 1918. Today, it's home to 20 restaurants, cafes, and lounges, two golf courses, a world-renowned Five-Star Spa, and 20 distinctive retail outlets. The resort also offers outdoor adventures including zip lining, fly fishing, hiking, whitewater rafting, and more.

Hidden Pond in Kennebunkport, Maine got first place.
