Highly-rated 'hidden' bar expands to Denver, but tracking it down relies on vague clues

A popular speakeasy-style bar out of Maine where every drink costs just $5 has expanded to Denver – but it comes with an extra twist.

First opened in Portland, Maine in 2015, a bar called Lincolns is notoriously difficult to find. While it's now possible to obtain its address online, the mission to enter this bar is more complicated than it seems in that a hidden door into the establishment is changed from time-to-time in order to keep the adventure of finding the spot alive. And according to Portland news source WCYY , the spot has now expanded to Denver.

The Mile High City location reportedly opened last weekend, and similar to its Maine counterpart, key components that give the bar its charm remain intact – everything on the menu including beer, wine, and cocktails is just five dollars and cash only, but perhaps more importantly, there's no press around the launch and the location has been kept underwraps.

Denver's KDVR reported on its opening, too, noting that the owner provided two clues in regard to its location – the front door is a "Scooby Doo-like situation" and that the bar is in a basement. Vague, at best. But perhaps a bit of struggle in finding it is all part of its appeal.

The bar's Portland location has a strong 4.3-star rating on Yelp with 179 reviews, and patrons have noted that entering the bar can be tricky, even now that its address is known. The final entrance has reportedly been hidden behind bookshelves and fake brick walls with towel racks, among other nonchalant disguises.

Looking to track down the Denver location? Perhaps somewhere in a deep corner of the web there's a better clue – at this point, there's no website or address that's officially been published. But remember – if you think you've found its hiding spot, don't forget to bring some cash along for your visit.
