If you think you're walking a bit far to reach your gate at Denver International Airport, you might not be wrong – but then again, it is one of the busiest airports in the country.

A recent piece from Reader's Digest took at look at how long some people have to walk to reach their gate at various airports around the country, and while DIA didn't snag the first place spot for 'longest walk,' it did end up ranking 4th.

The longest 'airport walk' nationwide is found at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, coming in at a distance of 2.16 miles. Denver International Airport's longest walk, however, isn't much shorter, at 1.45 miles.

With many people walking an average of a mile every 30 minutes, that might mean it takes around 45 minutes of walking to reach the gate for those who walk the farthest at DIA. Granted, the people-movers might help with time, but that's still something to keep in mind depending on what gate a flight is leaving from when figuring out when to arrive at the airport on the day of a trip.

Meanwhile, the shortest 'airport walk' in the country is reportedly found at Blue Grass Airport in Lexington – just 0.11 miles, or about a three-minute walk.
