The Big Boy No. 4014 train is set to roll through Colorado on its "Heartland of America Tour."

The tour will begin Aug. 28 from Cheyenne, Wyoming, and during its route, the train will travel across nine additional states, including Colorado. The train will arrive in Strasburg, Colorado on Oct. 21 at 3:45 p.m., leaving for Denver at 4:15 p.m. While Big Boy No. 4014 will be in Denver for the entirety of Oct. 22, it won't be open to the public due to a Private Union Pacific Employee Event. The train will then depart from Denver on Oct. 23., passing through Greeley at about 12:35 p.m. before heading on to leave the Centennial State at 1:05 p.m.

In addition to Colorado, the train will travel across Arkansas, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Texas.

Those wanting to spot this massive 1.2 million-pound train in motion will want to head to one of the spots it's stopping in Colorado to get a glimpse from afar. Big Boy Number 4014 is well-known in the train-loving community, in official operation from 1941 through 1961, traveling over one million miles during that time .

The Union Pacific Railroad Museum also auctioned off four cab rides on Big Boy No. 4014 as part of the tour, and the proceeds will go to the Union Pacific Museum Association and Union Pacific's Friend-to-Friend Network.
