The man responsible for running Audi's Italy-based operations died on August 31 after taking a big fall while mountain climbing near the Italian-Swiss border.

Fabrizio Longo, 62, was climbing Cima Payer in the Adamello mountains at the time of the fall, according to the New York Post . His body was later located roughly 700 feet inside of a gorge.

According to Daily Mail , the route Longo was on at the time of the fall involved steel cables, ladders, and other aids.

Men's Journal reports that Longo has been described as an "expert and careful" mountaineer.

Cima Payer reaches an elevation of about 10,000 feet.

Condolences go out to those impacted by Longo's death.
