And just like that, snow has fallen on Colorado's peaks.

According to a press release from Arapahoe Basin ski area in Summit County, the resort got its first snow of the season on the morning of September 5. Of course, it's just an early season dusting and summer operations are still set to continue on weekends at the destination through September 22 , but still – snow!

Per usual, the resort's opening date is to be determined, with Arapahoe Basin often being the first ski area statewide to open runs. Generally, this happens sometime in mid-to-late October.

Arapahoe Basin also tends to be the last ski area to shut down lifts each year, in part thanks to their higher elevation. Last year, their season lasted 222 days, closing in mid-June.

"How do we do it all? Well, it’s because we’re fueled by three simple things: people, passion, and powder. With these three top priorities, you can rest assured that our vibe is alive and well," read a press release from the spot. "We value quality over quantity and work towards keeping The Basin a beautiful, laid-back ski area with room on the slopes and a seat at the bar. So this season, with steeps, deeps, and no lift lines, we’re encouraging you to leave no stash untouched, no line unturned, and no days behind this winter. After all, we are Legendary for a reason."

Snow also fell on Pikes Peak for the first time of the season last night with snow expected to continue throughout the day (see pictures here ).
