Mountain town brewery dubbed one of top 'dog-friendly' spots in US

Esteemed travel company TripAdvisor has released their ranking of the best 'pet friendly' restaurants around the country, and one spot in Colorado made the cut to be included in among their top 15 picks.

Selections for TripAdvisor's Travelers' Choice Awards 'Best of the Best' titles are based on a number of factors, including a high volume of positive reviews. Less than one percent of the eight million establishments listed on the website receive a 'Best of the Best' award, and even fewer make it onto one of their 'top spots' rankings.

Ranking 11th in the category of 'pet-friendly restaurants' was Manitou Brewing Company in Manitou Springs, Colorado.

Located in a mountain town found just outside of Colorado Springs that's known for the notorious 'Manitou Incline' hiking trail and the Pikes Peak Cog Railway, Manitou Brewing Company is located in a history building along a main street that's filled with shops, bars, and entertainment – including a penny arcade.

The 'dog-friendly' nature of this spot comes in the form of a quaint patio, which is perfect for relaxation during any day with pleasant weather. Aside from pouring great craft beer, this spot also offers up a menu that's perfect for date night or post-hike. Favorites include their burger varieties, pretzel knots, and truffle mac n' cheese.

As a writer who lives about five miles from this spot, my favorite way to enjoy Manitou Brewing Company with my own pup is to head their after some sort of outdoor recreation adventure. While this spot might not offer indoor seating for dogs or off-leash play, it's a great place to recover in the shade. Local peaks Red Mountain and Iron Mountain make for great hikes that are manageable for most canines, and don't forget to save some time to walk a few blocks around town, too. Another good option for a local hike can be a portion of Barr Trail, but remember, dogs aren't allowed on the Manitou Incline, which runs parallel to this route.

The top 'pet-friendly' spot nationwide was determined to be La Fuga in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
