Tickets to go on sale for popular "The Polar Express" train ride event in Colorado

Tickets for the Colorado Railroad Museum's 'The Polar Express Train Ride' are set to go on sale on October 1 – and if you're looking to participate in this year's festivities, you'll want to act fast!

The train ride will run from Nov. 8 to Dec. 23 at 5 p.m., 6:30 p.m., or 8 p.m. each evening. This year it will feature a bigger cast, more first-class ticket options, and an expansion of the North Pole set.

According to the Colorado Railroad Museum, the train ride has sold out well in advance in the past several years, so it will be best to get tickets early. There will be a 10 percent discount for all performances before Thanksgiving.

The event is described as a "theatrical extravaganza" that includes three parts. Guests begin the adventure by entering The Polar Express Pavilion to see a holiday pre-show, then see the iconic "hot chocolate" song and dance performance. The story of "The Polar Express" will then be reenacted as guests sip on hot chocolate and eat cookies.

After the performance, the Polar Express train will dramatically arrive to take guests to the North Pole, where they'll see elves sing and dance and Santa give out the first gift of Christmas. When the train returns, riders will get to visit Santa in his workshop.
