The new plan also has a new gathering space that was part of a planning process where residents said they would like to see more spaces for events and activities.

Discussions to the improve the Farmers’ Market Pavilion began in 2017. Since 2018, the city and its project partners have created conceptual plans, shared plans with a number of groups involved at the market, including vendors, shoppers, downtown area residents and Downtown Overland Park merchants.

Construction for the Farmers’ Market Pavilion site and Downtown Overland Park gathering space is set to begin in the winter, after the Farmers’ Market season ends on Nov. 23rd.
