A proposal to give veterans free access to state parks failed to make Michigan’s budget. The initiative would’ve been funded by changing how Michigan residents each year renew their state recreation passport, which grants vehicle access to 103 state parks along with boat launches and other state-managed recreation facilities.

Thousands of people in Metro Detroit are without power Tuesday following strong, early-morning storms that left wind damage and flooding. DTE is reporting just over 17,000 outages, with areas in Oakland and Macomb Counties among the most-affected.
I&M: Less than 3,000 customers remain without power following storms
(WPTA) - Indiana Michigan Power shares that as of 9 p.m. Tuesday, only about 2,900 customers are still without power. Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) has provided another update after 16,000 customers were without power Tuesday morning after a line of thunderstorms moved through the area. I&M says more than 70% of those affected have had their power restored noting that less than 8,000 customers are without power as of 1 p.m.
