Fans filled up the seats at Chuck Fuller Field to watch America’s pastime on Wednesday before the holiday, as the Owatonna Aces faced off against the Waseca Braves.

The Aces were coming off of a doubleheader split against the Winona Chiefs on Sunday, making the game against the Braves Owatonna’s third home game in a row. It didn’t go to plan, though, as the Aces lost 15-3 in seven innings.

Owatonna’s manager Cody Johnson was the starting pitcher for the Aces. The Braves took an early lead in the first inning, scoring five runs and they scored another four in the second to have the Braves lead 9-0 after two innings. Johnson pitched a scoreless inning in the third against the Braves and gave up a solo home run to Chris Glynn in the fourth, which gave the Braves a double-digit lead.

The top of the third ended up being the only scoreless inning for the Braves, as they scored one run in the fourth and fifth each, and scored three runs in the sixth and one in the seventh, which ended up being the final inning.

The Aces first got on the board in the fourth inning with a single by Casey Chambers, scoring AJ Vandereide. The Aces scored one run in the fifth and one run in the sixth, before being shut out in the seventh inning still down 15-3. The game ended in the seventh via the mercy rule, since the Aces down more than 10 runs.

The Aces look to bounce back against Pine Island on the road Monday, which was originally supposed to be a home game against the North Mankato Gators. Owatonna then returns to Chuck Fuller Field on Wednesday as they take on the Dodge County Diamondbacks.
