Aces unable to play home games due to rain, opponent forfeit

A six-game home stretch for the Owatonna Aces was cut down to three games, and they are now on a four-game road stretch.

The Aces ended the month of June with a doubleheader at home against the Winona Chiefs. That doubleheader was expected to be the start of a six-game home stretch lasting until Friday, July 12.

The Aces ended up splitting the June 30 doubleheader with Winona and played the Waseca Braves July 3. The Aces went on to lose against the Braves 15-3.

The Aces then had a four-day break for the Independence Day holiday and played the Pine Island Islanders on the road on Monday, July 8.

The Aces were originally supposed to play a home game against the North Mankato Gators until it was switched to an away game.

Owatonna ended up losing to the Islanders 6-5 and looked to bounce back against the Dodge County Diamondbacks at home on Wednesday, July 10. That game was postponed due to rain.

The Aces also did not play their scheduled game Friday at home against the Rochester Barons; the Barons were unable to field a team and forfeited. The Aces tried to find a last-minute opponent to replace Rochester but were unable to do so.

The Aces are currently in the middle of a four-game road stretch. They faced of against the P.E.M. Bucks Sunday night, losing 4-3. They will face off against the Austin Blue Jays on Monday and the Stewartville Sharks on Wednesday to end the road stretch.

Owatonna will then make its long-awaited return to Chuck Fuller Field on Friday against the Wanamingo Jacks and will finish off their regular season at home against the Austin Blue Jays on Monday, July 22.
