Owatonna Silver Streaks senior softball defeats Northfield

The Owatonna Silver Streaks senior softball team’s season is two-thirds the way over after they picked up a win at home against Northfield’s team on Tuesday morning.

Northfield jumped to an early lead in the first inning of the game, scoring three runs. Owatonna answered back right away though as they hit a grand slam home run to take the lead 4-3.

The game consisted of many good hits and good defensive plays from both teams, as the game was tied at 8-8 at one point in the matchup.

By the 9th inning, the Silver Streaks had a lead 16-10 over Northfield. In the 9th inning, Northfield had 2 outs and another spectacular catch was made to end the game with a score of 16-10.

The Silver Streaks play their last home game of the season on Tuesday, July 23rd against Cannon Falls. The game will start at 10:00 a.m. at the Steele County fair grounds, diamond 3.

The team will then have their last three games of the season on the road at Faribault, Northfield and Cannon Falls.
