The weather continued to be perfect for Gopher Conference cross country teams as clear skies once again was the setting for a cross country meet.

This week was NRHEG’s turn to host their cross country invite at Riverview Golf Course. NRHEG’s Jacob Karl performed well in his home area as he placed fourth in the boys race Tuesday afternoon. Medford was the only area team to place in the official team scores, as they placed in sixth out of six full teams in both the boys and girls rankings.

    NRHEG

The NRHEG Panthers girls cross country team had four runners compete in the varsity race, as Julieann Wobbrock and Ella Jenno were right by each other throughout the majority of the race. Wobbrock finished in 19th place with a time of 24:09.4 while Jenno finished with a time of 24:21.9 in 21st place.

Amelia Duryee and Holly Bartness were by each other in the race as well, as the teammates placed 44th and 47th. Jacob Karl, the lone boy runner for NRHEG, had a top five finish as he placed fourth with a time of 18:09.5

    Blooming Prairie

The Awesome Blossoms girls cross country team had a good outing on Tuesday, with both of their runners placing in the top half of the 56 total girls runners.

Gloria Hernandez had a time of 21:54.6 which was good for 7th place, while Haley McIntosh had a time of 24:52.7 in 26th place.

The Blossoms’ boys team had twice the amount of runners than the girls, with Will Sunde, Rhett Mueller, Isaac Fort, and Colby Johnson running for Blooming Prairie. Sunde was the top runner for the team, finishing in 22nd place with a time of 21:08.2. Mueller finished in 35th place, Fort in 36th place, and Johnson in 60th place out of 60 runners.

    Medford

With Medford being the only team in Steele County to qualify for the official team scores, they were no match for Pacelli and Mankato Loyola-Cleveland as they placed in first and second in both the boys and girls standings, with Mankato Loyola-Cleveland having 1st-place finishes in both categories.

While Medford struggled on Tuesday, they almost had a top ten finisher, as Joseph Hora finished just outside the top ten with a 12th place finish. He had a time of under 20 minutes with 19:38.5.

Alex Thurnau (31st), Drake Stursa (48th), Jacob Hora (52nd), Mason Kolling (53rd), Jackson Melchert (55), and Henry Miller (57th) rounded out the seven total runners for the Medford boys team at the invite.

Avery Arndt (33rd), Amelia Fitzgerald (38th), and Lydia Heiderscheidt (43rd) all recorded times under 30 minutes for the Tigers’ girls team. Arndt finished with a time of 26:33.0, Fitzgerald with 27:55.2, and Heiderscheidt with 28:51.6. Gabriella Salazar-Sharp (48th), Aurora Heintz (51st), Clara Thurnau (53rd), Claire Gibbons (54th), and Madison Murphy (55th) rounded out the 8 total runner for the Tigers’ girls.
