1 dead, one hospitalized after tractor trailer, motorcycle crash on Route 17 near Owego

One person is dead and another injured following a tractor trailer collision with a motorcycle Thursday in Tioga County.

The crash took place around 1 p.m. along a construction area in the eastbound lane of state Route 17 in the Town of Owego, according to New York State Police.

There were two people riding on the motorcycle. One person, whose name has not been released, has died and the other was taken to UHS Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City for treatment, troopers said. That person's condition was not released.

The eastbound lane of Route 17 was closed to traffic between exits 65 and 67 for several hours while the state police collision reconstruction team was on the scene. The lane is now open to traffic.

The investigation into the crash is continuing.
