Owen County man killed in shooting
An Owen County man has died in what officials believe was an accidental discharge of a firearm at a Carroll County gun shop on Saturday night. Chad Alan Wainscott, 50, of Wheatley was at Humphreys Double H Sales, 1496 Whites Run Road, Carrollton on Saturday, June 29, when another customer at the gun shop unknowingly discharged a loaded gun, striking Wainscott at about 8:30 p.m.

Senior to study abroad
Carson Cram, a senior from Owen County attending Gatton Academy, has been granted a scholarship to spend the summer studying abroad in England. Gatton Academy of Mathematics and Science is Kentucky’s first residential two-year STEM school for juniors and seniors in high school. The full-time Gatton Academy program at WKU was founded in 2007 and is open to students who want to work in advanced science, technology, engineering, or mathematics.
