HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – An Owensboro businessman, David Hocker, recently passed away. Some politicians released statements in reference to his death.

    Senator Mitch McConnell

U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell issued the following statement regarding the passing of David Hocker:

“Western Kentucky has lost a true business titan with the passing of David Hocker. It’s difficult to imagine what Owensboro would be like today without the impact of David’s visionary leadership and decades of investment in the community. What began as a small venture in the City of Owensboro grew over time into a nationwide retail empire, creating good-paying jobs, strengthening communities, and touching the lives of thousands of Kentuckians. Elaine and I join our home state in mourning the loss of a great man and dear friend whose legacy will forever be embedded in the fabric of Owensboro.”

    Sen. McConnell

    Attorney General Russell Coleman

Attorney General Russell Coleman released the following statement regarding the passing of David Hocker:

“I practically grew up in Owensboro’s Towne Square Mall and Wesleyan Park Plaza, benefiting from the entrepreneurship and vision of David Hocker. He forever changed the landscape of Owensboro and set our beloved city on a path to success as a commercial center for much of Western Kentucky.

“Many will rightly remember David for his business achievements and generous philanthropy. But his true legacy will be his outstanding family, including his son and my dear friend, Talmage, and his grandson and my former colleague, Talmage, Jr. Ashley and I share our heartfelt condolences and will keep the entire Hocker family in our prayers.”
