HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – Two juveniles were charged with burglarizing a fireworks stand along Highway 54 on July 4.

According to a police affidavit, the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office Night Shift Unit patrol spotted the two juveniles running across the highway in the 1800 block of the US 60 carrying items and wearing ski masks.

Deputy Ryan Hatfield says the teenagers began to flee when he exited his vehicle. Police say two other deputies responded to the area and the teenagers were quickly located near Menards on KY 54.

According to their investigation, they discovered the juveniles were in the process of fleeing the burglary when Deputy Hatfield spotted them.

Both the juveniles were charged with burglary, obstructing a highway, evading police, and criminal trespass.

The stolen property was returned to the fireworks stand owner, and both the juveniles were released to the custody of their parents.
