Cardinals-Braves game is postponed because of rain, doubleheader planned for Saturday
ATLANTA (AP) — The game between the St. Louis Cardinals and Atlanta Braves originally scheduled for Friday night was postponed because of persistent rain. The Cardinals, who are in second place in the NL Central, and the Braves, who are second in the NL East, will play a split doubleheader on Saturday at Truist Park. The first pitch for the opener has been scheduled for 1 p.m., and the nightcap will begin at 7:20 p.m., though there is more rain in the forecast.

ST. LOUIS — David Steward, founder and chairman of Maryland Heights-based World Wide Technology, has departed the St. Louis Blues’ ownership group. Blues’ Chairman Tom Stillman said Thursday in a news release that Steward has transferred his partial ownership stake in the National Hockey League franchise to Michael Riney, founder and managing director of investment firm QRM Capital.
Union Auditorium open following renovations
The Union Memorial Auditorium is open for business, and the city’s Park Advisory Board members got to check out recent improvements after their Thursday meeting. The auditorium was closed for more than $700,000 in renovations from October 2023 until June 1, when rain caused it to reopen sooner than expected for cornhole play at the annual Founders Day celebration.
