The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is warning Americans about a listeria outbreak that has sickened more than two dozen people across 12 states, believe to be linked to deli meat.As of Friday, 28 people have fallen ill -- all of whom have been hospitalized -- and two people have died, one from Illinois and one from New Jersey, according to the federal health agency.New York is the state with the most cases at seven, followed by Maryland with six. Police: 1 dead after Prince George’s Co. crash
A man is dead after a two-vehicle crash that happened Thursday afternoon in Seat Pleasant, Maryland, according to Prince George’s County police. Officers responded to the area of Central Avenue near Brightseat Road around 1:30 p.m., according to a news release from police. At the scene, they found one driver, identified as 69-year-old Zachery Cummings of Bowie, suffering from trauma in his vehicle.

Washington, D.C. Man Sentenced to 20 Years for Second Degree Murder in Fourth of July Shooting
A Fourth of July celebration turned tragic last year has culminated in a 20-year prison sentence for a D.C. man. Brandon Smith, 38, has been sentenced after pleading guilty to second degree murder while armed in the death of Charles Stanton, 43, also from Washington, D.C. The sentence, announced by U.S. Attorney Matthew M. Graves and Chief Pamela Smith of the Metropolitan Police Department, was handed down by Superior Court Judge Marisa Demeo and includes a subsequent five-year period of supervised release, and a requirement for Smith to register as a gun offender.

Tishman Speyer Sells Downtown D.C. Office Building for $140M
New York-based real estate giant Tishman Speyer has sold 2000 K Street NW, a downtown D.C. office property, to Spear Street Capital for $140.2 million. Tishman Speyer sold the building located two blocks east of Washington Circle that it spent millions renovating just before the pandemic, according to the Washington Business Journal. Spear Street secured a $103 million acquisition loan from Germany-based DekaBank for the deal.
