GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A 106-year-old World War II veteran from Michigan has died.

According to the Mid-Michigan Honor Flight, Irene Hosking passed away Sunday at her home in Owosso.

Hosking was supposed to be on the Mid-Michigan Honor Flight in May but wasn’t feeling up to it. Instead, the group carried her photo all the way to Washington, D.C.

Hosking was a nurse who served in Australia.

She recently met another 106-year-old WWII veteran in late May and they talked for hours. They were born just 10 days apart in April 1918.
