    Calhoun County, AL – Former Oxford coach Brooks, Anniston’s Howard-Holland and Spring Garden’s Austin receive awards for 2022-23 school year.

    Former Oxford High baseball coach Wes Brooks, Anniston High track coach Lisa Howard-Holland and Spring Garden girls’ basketball coach Ricky Austin received awards from the National Federation of State High School Associations on Thursday.

    The awards are for the 2022-23 school year. The NFHS announces awards a year out.

    Brooks, who coached Oxford to its 2023 Class 6A state baseball title, was the organization’s Alabama and sectional coach of the year for baseball.

    Howard-Holland, who coached Anniston’s boys to their second consecutive Class 4A state track title, was also state and sectional coach of the year, for boys’ track & field.

    Austin, who coached Spring Garden’s girls to a state title, was state coach of the year for girls’ basketball.
