DALLAS ― Ole Miss football and coach Lane Kiffin should be one of the hot topics of conversation at 2024 SEC Media Days.

The Rebels are set to take part in the first day of the event, with Kiffin taking the stage inside the Omni Hotel on Monday. Though the SEC's expansion to include Oklahoma and Texas and big-picture changes to college athletics will be among the top headlines, Ole Miss should be a popular talking point, too, with the Rebels targeting a place in the expanded College Football Playoff off an 11-win season.

    Deion Smith's arrival uncertain

During a session with local media, Kiffin said he did not know if Deion Smith would be at Ole Miss for the start of preseason practice. Smith is considered the top junior college player in the country in the 2024 cycle.

Lane Kiffin not in favor of new tech on sidelines

The SEC is adding iPads to its sidelines for the 2024 season. Kiffin wasn't in favor of it, believing it could hinder the Rebels' high-speed offense.

Lane Kiffin remembers his father, Monte Kiffin

Kiffin said his father's first rule was to show up, and that's what he's trying to do at SEC Media Days on Monday after his father died on Thursday.

"I really feel like there's very few superheroes, very few great ones who loved everyone and tried to help everyone they came in touch with forever," Kiffin said. "...He tried to help."

Lane Kiffin on Jaxson Dart's development

Kiffin said there's not much to point to when it comes to areas of progression with Dart. He praised his development as a leader, adding that if the new NCAA Football game had a leadership rating for quarterbacks, Dart would be a 99.

Lane Kiffin on Ole Miss running backs, replacing Quinshon Judkins:

"Quinshon's a great player, one of the best players in college football...We wish him the best. That's very hard to replace. We have a number of guys that we're excited about. Some of them have some health issues that we're gonna have to work through in training camp and even into the season."
