Ole Miss faces exceptionally high expectations after a successful offseason in the transfer portal. Many experts have predicted the Rebels to make the College Football Playoff and compete for the SEC title next season.

The Rebels were voted fourth in the preseason SEC media poll, behind only Georgia, Texas, and Alabama. Ole Miss finished last season 11-2 and have the chance to win 10 or more games in back-to-back seasons for the first time since 1959-60.

On the latest episode of the " College GameDay Podcast ," ESPN's Rece Davis discussed the expectations surrounding Ole Miss and made a bold prediction for the Rebels.

"The one thing is Lane (Kiffin) may really be vindicated this year in the SEC," Davis said. "Because he's had great offenses, he's had good teams... He's done a really good job there, but now he shored up the defensive front.

"I think they're going to be really, really good on offense. I'm just gonna go ahead and say it, man... I think Ole Miss makes the playoff."

Ole Miss added multiple impact transfers this offseason. Former five-star defensive lineman Walter Nolan headlined the class. Other notable players, including South Carolina wide receiver Juice Wells and Florida EDGE Princely Umanmielen will join the program.

Quarterback Jaxson Dart also returns for another season in Oxford. Over the past two seasons, Dart has recorded 6,338 passing yards, 43 passing touchdowns, 1,003 rushing yards, and nine rushing touchdowns.

Ole Miss will open the 2024 season against Furman on Aug. 31. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.
