Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart, unfortunately, found himself on the wrong end of several big hits in 2023.

With the help of a few gentle reminders from his mom, taking better care of his body appears to be something Dart plans to work on this coming college football season.

During an interview with On3Sports' J.D. Pickell earlier this week, Dart was asked if he intends to slide more often this fall.

"What's your deal? Why do you like hitting linebackers at full speed? Are you going to slide at all this year, or are we just lowering the shoulder all game long?" Pickell asked the Ole Miss QB.

"Well, it definitely depends on the situation," Dart joked. "No, but my mom is always on top of me about that."

Dart then opened up about the reason behind his physical style of play.

"I think some people didn't know this about me, but I initially got recruited at linebacker before I was at quarterback," Dart said. "So, my physically kind of stems from that side of things."

After revealing that his father, Brandon, a former defensive back at Utah, inspired his passion for physicality, Dart admitted that he does in fact plan to slide more often this fall.

"But I'll definitely slide a lot more this year," Dart said.

That's something Rebels head coach Lane Kiffin certainly must like to hear.

Dart completed 65.1 percent of his pass attempts and threw for 3,364 yards and 23 touchdowns (5 interceptions) in 2023.

A healthier 2024 season could mean even better numbers for the Heisman-hopeful quarterback.
