Jaxson Dart reveals the other position he could have played in college

Ole Miss Rebels quarterback Jaxon Dart isn't afraid of contact. We now know why.

Speaking at SEC Media Days with On3's J.D. PicKell , Dart opened up about his physicality as a runner and scrambler. As it turns out, Dart was also recruited to play linebacker during his high school days.

"I think some people didn't know this about me, but I initially got recruited at linebacker before I was a quarterback," Dart revealed. "My physicality, like that kind of stems from that side of things. My dad played defense at Utah, so he's always been somebody who is very passionate about the physicality of the game."

Dart has been known to take off more than a handful of times every game. He's logged 247 rushing attempts over the last two seasons, going for 1,005 yards and nine touchdowns. That being said, Dart joked that he's planning on being a lot more careful as a runner in 2024.

"But I'll definitely slide a lot more this year," Dart added.

Despite offers to play linebacker, Dart was a 4-star quarterback coming out of high school in Draper, Utah. His offers included the likes of the UCLA Bruins and Iowa State Cyclones, but initially enrolled with the USC Trojans.

Dart only made it a year before transferring to Ole Miss, where he quickly became an impact player for the Rebels. After leading the team to a program record 11 wins last season, Dart is hoping that he can get the SEC program into the College Football Playoff before his college career is over.
