Dana Bullard: Oxford High School principal loves helping students see their potential

A native of Aberdeen, Dana Bullard has been working in Mississippi education for more than 20 years. Bullard double-majored in English and classics at Millsaps College before heading to the University of Mississippi for graduate school.

Around 1988, while working on her master's degree in English at Ole Miss, Bullard was trained as a graduate assistant and started teaching classes; that’s when she realized she could see herself as a teacher. After Bullard graduated from Ole Miss, one of her young daughters developed some chronic health problems, so Bullard spent most of the 1990s home with her children. She also trained horses on the side, as she had been doing since fifth grade.
