    Hockey

Holy Angels junior Zoe Rimstad was named to the USA Hockey Girls 16/17 National Player Development Camp at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio on July 19-24. Rimstad helped the Stars place fourth at the state tournament while compiling an 11-3-3 record with a 1.61 goals against average and .930 save percentage. She had three shutouts.

Rimstad will be joined by fellow Minnesotan goalies Reese McConnell (Edina) and Mallory Hartl (Moose Lake). Ten skaters from Minnesota made the camp including Regan Berglund (Hill-Murray), Hannah Christenson (Andover), Sophia Hess (River Lakes), Payton Hess (Roseau), Kali Schmidt (Orono), Blake Schultz (East Grand Forks), Courtney Little (Andover), Brooklyn Riley (Benilde-St. Margaret’s) and Campbell Rucinski (BSM).

    Jake Irvin

Washington Nationals pitcher Jake Irvin, a 2015 Jefferson grad, faced Minnesota, the team who originally drafted him in the 37th round of the 2015 June Amateur Draft, for the first time as a starter on May 22. Irvin went 6 1/3 innings, matching a season-high six strikeouts. He allowed two runs on five hits without walking a batter but took the loss in a 3-2 final score. He is 2-5 in 10 starts so far this season, his first full season in the majors after being called up just over a year ago (May 3, 2023) to face the Chicago Cubs. He went 4 1/3 innings with three strikeouts, two hits and four walks on that day.

    Ella Graff

The RPI junior attack and Jefferson graduate finished second on the team with 43 points on 39 goals and four assists. She led the team with 15 ground balls while playing in all 16 matches, starting 15 times for the Engineers.
