A Norwood woman lost her life Monday night in a crash in Ozark County, Troop G of the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.

Sgt. Logan Elliott said a southbound 1998 Lincoln Town Car operated by Holly P. Cooke, 31, struck a cow on Highway 5 about 6.5 miles northwest of Gainesville. She was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Ozark County coroner. Next of kin has been notified.

A passenger, a 10-year-old boy, had serious injuries and was flown by air ambulance to Mercy Children’s Hospital in Springfield. Elliott said the woman was not wearing a seat belt; the boy was.

It is Troop G’s 11th fatality for the year compared to 14 at the same time in 2023.
