Winners of the 2024 Youth Plein Air Art Contest announced
CEDARBURG — The Cedarburg Cultural Center recently congratulated the winners of the 21st annual Plein Air Art Contest for youth ages 17 and under. The contest, which began June 6 and ran through June 17, featured the paintings and drawings of 109 young artists, all portraying the beauty and historic charm of Ozaukee County in a myriad styles and techniques.
Two die, one survives after boat capsizes in Lake Michigan
PORT WASHINGTON — For at least the fifth time in a little over a month, area dive teams were called for a water rescue in Ozaukee County. According to an Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office press release, two people from Illinois died and another from Beloit is in stable condition after their boat capsized Monday about 5 miles east of the Port Washington Marina.
Arnett becomes Mequon’s new finance director
MEQUON — On July 8, the city of Mequon welcomed Brenda Arnett as its newest finance director. A lifetime resident of Ozaukee County, Arnett’s extensive financial background includes working in the private sector for Arthur Andersen as a real estate consultant and in the public sector as the director of finance for Hartford Union High School and most recently for the Port Washington-Saukville School District.
