Fredonia JCC camp spearheading water safety efforts for underserved children
FREDONIA — Hundreds of children from historically underserved neighborhoods of Milwaukee are in Ozaukee County this summer to participate in the free "Road to Rainbow" summer camp program, an expanded, two-tiered water safety and swim instruction program that kicked off in summer and continues into the fall season. Organizers highlight that this is the most dangerous time of year for child drownings.

LTC officials announce board officer appointments
Lakeshore Technical College Board of Trustees incumbent members Curt Brauer, Belinda Esquinas and Dr. Mike Trimberger have been reappointed to the board. Esquinas and Trimberger were sworn in at the board’s annual organizational meeting July 8. Not present at the meeting was Brauer, who will be sworn in during the board’s August meeting.
Gathering on the Green to rock Mequon's Rotary Park this weekend
MEQUON — As if last year’s Gathering on the Green show couldn’t be topped, think again. Entering its 29th year, the annual outdoor music festival is expecting thousands upon thousands to flock to Mequon’s Rotary Park this weekend to witness performances by American blues band The Fabulous Thunderbirds, as well as two renowned tribute groups.
Little creek nets county big award
The Ozaukee County Planning and Parks Department’s trophy case continues to fill up as it was recognized by another national organization last month. The National Association of County Park and Recreation Offices, or NACPRO, on June 2 presented its Conservation Award to the county for its work to restore Mineral Springs Creek in Port Washington.
