Dave Hobson was a United States Representative from the 7th District of Ohio. At the time, the district was located in the Columbus area. Hobson was a moderate member of the Republican Party. He is now being remembered fondly on a bipartisan basis.
Mexico: Chamber of Deputies President Ifigenia Martinez has died
Ifigenia Martinez was considered a pioneer and a trailblazer for women in Mexican politics. A federal officer-holder for a period of time stretching across five decades, she was affiliated with multiple political parties, but was most recently with Morena. Last month, Martinez became the President of Mexico's Chamber of Deputies, a role similar to Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives. But her time in the office would be tragically short.

A member of a political family, Lourdes Mendoza was at one point one of the most powerful politicians in Peru. She was a member of the American Popular Revolutionary Alliance political party. Mendoza passed away on October 4, 2024.

Since late 2022, Michele Fiore has been a Justice of the Peace in Nye County, Nevada after being appointed to the office by the County Board of Commissioners. A cause of death was not immediately released to the public, but he had apparently been struggling with health issues for a number of years.

Mike Dmitrich was a longtime leader of the Democratic Party in the State of Utah. On September 30, 2024, Dmitrich passed away in Mesquite near Las Vegas, Nevada. Various Utah officials have issued statements paying tribute to him on a bipartisan basis. "He taught me invaluable skills, especially the art of negotiation and collaboration across party lines - both essential to creating good public policy," current Senate Minority Leader and fellow Democrat Luz Escamilla said of Dmitrich. Republicans to make remarks in memory of Dmitrich included Governor Spencer Cox, Lieutenant Governor Deidre Henderson, Senate President Stuart Adams and former Senate President John L. Valentine.
Ex-Florida State Senator, Representative Frank Artiles convicted of election conspiracy charges
At the start of his time as a Republican politician in Florida, Frank Artiles was known for having a highly-decorated military career. But his political tenure came to an abrupt halt after he was caught referring to his colleagues by racial slurs and other derogatory terms and became embroiled in a campaign finance scandal, leading to his resignation. Things have not gotten better for him.

The Free State of Thuringia is located in central Germany. Earlier this month, it held an election to decide members of its legislature, the Landtag. In the race, the rise of the hard-right political party known as Alternative for Germany, which is classified by the government as an extremist organization, became a cause for concern to many onlookers. But there has been at least one major sign that the other parties in the Landtag are uniting against the party, though after a chaotic process.
Japan: Shigeru Ishiba to become the next Prime Minister
Current Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida announced last month that he would not be seeking re-election as President of the Liberal Democratic Party. Also effectively meaning that he was stepping down as Prime Minister.
U.K.: Russell Findlay elected as the Scottish Leader of the Opposition
Earlier this year, Douglas Ross announced that he was stepping down as both the Leader of the Scottish Conservatives political party and as the Leader of the Opposition in the Scottish Parliament. As a result, an election to decide on a new head of the Scottish Conservatives was called.
ARCA returning to Madison International Speedway in 2025
The Automobile Racing Club of America, generally referred to as ARCA, was for several decades its own independent racing series. For many of those years, it held a race at Madison International Speedway, one of Wisconsin's most famous racetracks. More recently, ARCA has been absorbed NASCAR to become one of its premiere series and for the first time since then, it's returning to MIS.
