Mike Fetters had an extensive career as a Major League Baseball pitcher, primarily with the Milwaukee Brewers. After retiring as a player, he became a longtime member of the Arizona Diamondbacks, initially as a scout and later in the front office and as a coach, most recently in the bullpen. But his time with the D-backs has come to an end.

Fetters is one of three pitching coaches for the Diamaondbacks that are not being brough back for the 2025 MLB season. It comes even as they helped the team win a National League Championship last year. They did not make it that far in 2024, however, as they narrowly missed out on even qualifying for the playoffs.

The other two coaches parting ways with the Diamondbacks are Brent Strom and Dan Carlson. Strom played for three MLB teams before turning to coaching. He was a member of the staff of the controversial Houston squad that won the 2017 World Series. Carlson was also a member of three clubs as an MLB player, including the Diamondbacks, before playing in Japan.

Mike Fetters was a two-sport star at 'Iolani High School in Honolulu, Hawaii and helped both the baseball and boys' basketball teams win state championships in 1983. That year, he was selected in the MLB Draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers, but he opted to attend Pepperdine University instead of signing with them.

With the Pepperdine Waves, Fetters was part of three teams that won West Coast Conference regular season titles and was an All-American and the WCC Co-Pitcher of the Year in 1986. Also that year, he was picked in the first round of the MLB Draft by the California Angels.

He made his MLB debut with the Angels three years later before becoming a mainstay with the Brewers during the 1990s. In 1996, Fetters was among the leaders in the American League for saves.

After his time with Milwaukee, Fetters frequently bounced around for the rest of his playing tenure, including a couple of brief stays with Arizona. He was inducted in the Pepperdine University Athletics Hall of Fame in 2011 and the Milwaukee Brewers Wall of Honor in 2014.
