    Kendrick Lamar to headline Super Bowl LIX halftime show: ‘They got the right one’

    Kendrick Lamar is headlining the 2025 Super Bowl halftime show.

    Apple Music and the NFL announced the news on Sunday via Instagram with a photo of the “Not Like Us” rapper sitting on a football field in front of an American flag background.

    The big game will be hosted at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on Feb. 9, 2025.

    Lamar, 37, also shared the news on social media with a video of himself tossing footballs on a field.

    “My name is Kendrick Lamar, and I’ll be performing at Super Bowl 59. Are you pulling up? I hope so … let’s get it  … I wouldn’t want you to miss it. Meet me in New Orleans.”

    The 17-time Grammy winner claimed he’s looking forward to bringing the rap genre to the highly anticipated championship game.

    “Rap music is still the most impactful genre to date. And I’ll be there to remind the world why. They got the right one,” he said in a statement.

    Seth Dudowsky, NFL’s head of music, referred to Lamar as an artist who has “profoundly” impacted “music and culture.”

    “We’re excited to collaborate with Kendrick, Roc Nation and Apple Music to deliver another unforgettable Halftime Show,” Dudowsky added.

    “Time and time again, Kendrick has proven his unique ability to craft moments that resonate, redefine and ultimately shake the very foundation of hip-hop.”

    Fellow rapper Jay-Z also echoed his support for the “Money Trees” emcee, saying in a statement, “Kendrick Lamar is truly a once-in-a-generation artist and performer.

    “His deep love for hip-hop and culture informs his artistic vision. He has an unparalleled ability to define and influence culture globally. Kendrick’s work transcends music, and his impact will be felt for years to come.”

    Lamar made a guest appearance at the 2022 Super Bowl halftime show with Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, Eminem, 50 Cent and Mary J. Blige.

    At the time, the performers won three out of five Emmy nominations for their outstanding performance.

    The “Like That” rapper’s routine will follow Usher’s 2024 halftime show performance at Allegiant Stadium in Paradise, Nev.

    The “Yeah!” crooner brought the house down with his performance and made a splash with guest performer Alicia Keys as they sang their 2004 collab, “My Boo.”
