Not only did her now-husband, Joe Hooten, make sure Jamie Foxx watched the 2023 proposal play out on FaceTime, but the couple celebrated at his physical rehabilitation center.
“He … planned a very special post-engagement party in my dad’s room in Chicago,” Corinne, 30, told Vogue of her partner in an interview published Thursday.
“It was a small celebration,” she gushed, “but it was so intimate and meaningful.”
Hooten had initially planned to get down on one knee in Ireland last spring, but he switched things around after Jamie, 56, was hospitalized in April 2023.
The “Blame It” singer’s prognosis was not known at the time, with Corinne telling her social media followers that Jamie had experienced a “medical complication” and was “on his way to recovery.”
Jamie has since said that the last thing he remembers before being “gone for 20 days” was having a “bad headache” and requesting Advil.
Corinne spoke to the magazine about “spending [the] summer in Chicago while he recovered,” adding, “Little did I know that Joe had changed his plans so he could still propose on the same day — just in a different city.”
The producer proposed in a park, flying out Corinne’s mom, Connie Kline, and her aunts to watch the milestone moment while “hiding in a bush.”
The bride and groom got married last month at Jamie’s Los Angeles home.
“It was incredibly special, considering his health scare last year,” Corinne said of her September nuptials, noting that she and the actor walked down the aisle together “to a strings version of ‘Georgia On My Mind’ by Ray Charles.”
She recalled, “There wasn’t a dry eye in the house.”
“@joe.hooten when you whispered to me a while back that you were gonna ask my baby girl to marry you I had tears of joy in my soul,” the Oscar winner commented. “can’t wait to walk you down that isle [sic].”
Corinne and Hooten have been together since 2018 while attending the University of Southern California.
