Kayla Nicole awkwardly addressed her fallout with several Kansas City Chiefs WAGs — including one-time BFF Brittany Mahomes — during a recent appearance on Angel Reese’s “Unapologetically Angel” podcast.
During Thursday’s episode, the WNBA star, 22, asked the influencer, 32, if she remained “friends” with some of the women even after she and Travis Kelce broke up in 2022.
The question clearly caught Nicole off guard as she uncomfortably laughed and mumbled, “Mhm.”
However, the model made it clear that was no longer the case.
When asked specifically if they were “still friends,” Nicole simply chuckled before adding, “We were cool [but] we are not as cool as we once were.”
The sports reporter, who began dating Kelce in 2017 , explained that the transition was particularly “hard” because of how close she was to some of the women.
Days after the Kansas City Current co-owner was spotted having a girls’ night out with Swift , Nicole unfollowed her, Jackson and Patrick on Instagram.
“The reality is I know these people in real life,” she explained. “And so, in real life, I’ve communicated to these people why I’ve had to publicly make the decisions that I made.”
“That’s a lot of history and friendship there, that doesn’t change overnight,” Nicole continued. “But publicly, because things are happening so quickly and so publicly, I have to protect myself. That’s really all that is.”
While she insisted the “love is still there,” the two women have not been seen together in nearly a year — despite both attending the 2024 Super Bowl.
